there IS opacification of both common carotids
Explanation:
We don't say "primitive carotids" in English.

On retrouve I’absence totale d'opacification de la carotide interne droite dans son trajet cervical et intracrânien.

Total absence of opacification of the right internal carotid throughout its cervical and intracranial course.

This means that the contrast agent was not detected, indicating occlusion of the R internal carotid.

agree  Michael Lotz: Yes, Dr. SJLD: Exactly so, failure of contrast material to opacify right internal carotid indicates complete occlusion. And R and L common carotids are patent. Good summary illustration of anatomy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_carotid_artery.

-> thanks Michael - a basic anatomy course should be obligatory for medical translators, don't you think? ;-)

agree  Drmanu49: Of course depending what sentence you are referring to.

-> ??? I translated the first sentence first and the second sentence second - whatever the order, "carotides primitives" is never translated as "primitive carotids"
