French term or phrase: index corticopapillaire
In a medical report on a contrast medium examination of the kidneys: "L'index corticopapillaire papillaire paraît diminué". The repetition of papillaire may be a typo. I think it is referring to an altered ratio between the kidney cortex and papillae, but am not certain. Can anyone cast any light on this, and on the correct term to use in English? Any help much appreciated.

agree  BenKC: Injected contrast medium first distributes in the renal cortex and the CT number rises in this area. As the medium is filtered and excreted, the CT number of papilla increases. Renal function can be estimated from these data.
