Medical - Medical: Cardiology / Hospitalization report
French term or phrase: Pontage de Palma
Hi,

I have two instances of this.

The first one is under "Motif d'Hospitalization": "Thrombose veineuse du pontage de Palma"

and then under "Histoire de la maladie": "le patient a eu alors un pontage croisé Palma"

Are these two the same?

I found that the "pontage de Palma" is a "cross-femoral saphenous vein bypass" (sometimes called Palma procedure) https://www.pulsus.com/scholarly-articles/Long-Term-Outcomes...

and the "pontage croisé Palma" is a "Femoral crossover bypass as described by Palma and Esperon"
https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Femoral-crossover-bypass...
or it is a "crossed femoro-femoral graft for iliac vein occlusion" https://books.google.ca/books?id=v4PHBAAAQBAJ&pg=PA7&lpg=PA7...

Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated!

Palma procedure for deep vein thrombosis
Explanation:
Unless something else in your text indicates that they're talking about two different procedures, I'd say it's the same thing. I've found one article which calls the Palma procedure a "Cross-Pubic Venous Bypass" and another which calls it a "femerofemoral vein bypass", add that to the definition you've found, and I'd say it's all one and the same.

For the second instance, I'd suggest "Crossover bypass (Palma procedure)."
