(If anyone also knows that 'conique' can be translated as 'conical', or possibly 'tapering' or 'cone-shaped'? in this context, that would also help (but I am aware that it is a different term).

In carpentry a "pointe" is a type of nail, and nails can be used to attach plates to broken bones. A friend of mine has the plate and nails that once held his shoulder together on display in his home!
