Hi,

The handwritten sentence goes like this:

"Après abord de l'axe vasculaire [illegible] cervicale droite en retrocleidomastoidien [illegible] la surprise de ne pas trouver la veine jugulaire..."

Can someone please confirm that this is correct:

"After the approach of the right cervical artery via the stenocleidomastoid muscle ..."?

blkh	second illegible 14:56 Dec 20, 2016 no doubt it is = "on a", sorry if this doesn't help much; furthermore, axe is m. so no "e" at the end of 'cervicale" and "droite" ==>axe vasculaire cervical droit (sorry not much help again); axe vasculaire = artery + vein (might help a bit more)

@dwt2: I came to the same conclusion. I changed the sentence around "... artery through the sternocleidomastoid muscle in the right lateral cervical region..."

On further reflection, I think this is simply referring to the vascular compartment of the neck (on the right side) enclosed in the carotid sheath i.e. there are both arteries and veins. See https://www.kenhub.com/en/library/anatomy/carotid-sheath

Yes Liz, this could be "latero" but I don't find anything with "right laterocervical artery" or "right lateral cervical artery" :(
@ Lisa: this is a very recent text written by a surgeon based in Tunisia. There is a typo in my text and it should be "sternocleidomastoid muscle"
Is "axe vasculaire" always translated as "artery"?
