French term or phrase:stratégie décisionnelle
This term appears in a number of related documents on the management of the symptoms of dementia. It is explained as follows: "La stratégie décisionnelle consiste à offrir à la personne l'occasion de faire des choix dans la mesure de ses possibilités (p. ex. voulez-vous porter la robe bleue ou la verte?)." My searches have been fruitless. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.
This tool is simply a method enabling the dementia patient to make decisions (and simple ones at that). In the example provided (Do you want X or ?), the patient merely chooses between two options presented to him. I think that "decision-making strategy" sounds more sophisticated or complex than what this method involves. I would be happier with "decision strategy", which suggests a strategy that involves decisions. It's more like "choosing strategy" in meaning.
