I've tried a large combination of likely terms including things like "mechanical fragmentation melt", but nothing comes up that's all that helpful.

Explanation:
I'm not 100% sure that it is what they are talking about here but sintering is a process for making alloys from powders and it comes in mechanical and chemical variants.

It is a process used for preparing Uranium alloys. Google "Uranium sintering" for many hits.

Asker: thanks very much - but isn't the normal term for sintering of metals "trempage" ("frittage" in other cases)? By the way the references mentioned did not in fact help!
