French term or phrase:périscope de recalage
Naval technology (in text about inertial navigation systems)
Much further on in the same text, they talk about "périscope pour recalage astral" and "la visée des étoiles, permettant le recalage de position d'une centrale inertielle qui dérivait au fil des jours" so I think some idea of adjustment/correction needs to be introduced for this concept. The inertial navigation system determines the position, which tends to lose its fix with time, hence the need for "recalage".
