Text is talking about products in a factory - I think the translation would probably be "on the ground"/on ground level?, but am unsure: S'assurer la fermeture des grilles de transfert des produits situés aus ras du sol, lorsqu'elles ne servent pas.

agree  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Right on the ground. Comes from "raser", thus "au ras de" used to describe something which is really close to something else.
