French term or phrase: docteurs ès Lettres
There is not much context for this term. Basically, the name of the person, docteurs ès Lettres depuis 1993, and then the rest of the paragraph goes on to describe other aspects of the person's professional background.

I just want confirmation that 1) this does mean Ph.D. in Literature and 2) however, it would be best not to translate this, and instead to leave this in French. I've seen this actually listed on university faculty biographies, on university websites. What would you suggest?

Also, why is this "docteurs" instead of "docteur"? Is that just a typo?

PhD
Explanation:
Not necessarily in Literature ... could also be in languages
Normally, you would find it in the plural if there was a list with several names behind it
