French term or phrase: WHO WAS DELLUC (1930s Paris) ???
Not so much a translation as a query for help.
This is from an article about a certain Juan Piqueras...

"In the years before the Spanish Civil War -during which he was executed- he founded numerous film-clubs and carried out activities which earned him the nickname in France of the "Delluc espagnol"

So anyone know who Delluc was and what he was famous for. At a guess, from the slightest of hints in my text, he was a a member of the Community of "Gay París" With the emphasis on the "Gay" ;-)

I notice that this was censored by the French/English Administrator. I have no idea why... I am working on a translation and this reference came up outside my field (I'm a Translator from Spanish) so I asked my colleagues at proz and it is incredible that someone saw this as either irrelevant or irreverant. This is taking the power of the moderator too far!

Explanation:
I suppose this is a reference to Loius Delluc, who made the following films:la fête espagnole
la femme de nulle part
l'inondation
I'm afraid that's all I know - can't help with the "gay" connection!
