French to English translations [PRO]
French term or phrase: noeud 322 mhz SMP
The "noeud" is used in an internet context. It referred to as somthing that as somthing that the company has to buy in order to make a mechanism work. But it looks like a word used for the internet. I don't think it's "node"or "knot", but I would need help on this word asap.
Thank you
Creolia
English translation:= concurrence, and a word of explanation =
Explanation:
"322 MHz SMP node" is indeed the proper way to render the French. "SMP" here refers to Symmetric MultiProcessing, which means simply that multiple CPU chips live in a single PC or server, thereby providing a boost in performance. The clock speed of 322 megahertz (MHz) is a very typical value for such a configuration, and it's not surprising that the lease or purchase of such a piece of hardware would be a prerequisite for use of a network. -- Hope this provides some elucidation. -- Collegially yours, HC

322 MHz SMP node

Explanation:
I would say:
322 MHz SMP node
Though I'm not familiar with SMP (I do know SMTP...), I know that "node" is a term commonly used to translate the French term "noeud" in computer- related texts.
Ex: Suppression d'un noeud de serveur = Delete Server Node...
