French term or phrase: élaborée en refente de cuir
Can anyone help me with "refente de cuir" appearing in the phrase "élaborée en refente de cuir" in a text describing a range of suitcases?

split leather (made of split leather; split leather construction)
Explanation:
I think I'd just plain old "split leather." If you want to expand, this, I'd go for "split leather construction" in preference to "made of split leather," but both are used. Your choice will depend on your greater context.

(leather) flesh split(s)

Explanation:
grandictionnaire explains what "refendage" is. it deals with shoe leather soles in general but all leather items. refente =splitting ,it means that the leather sole, item is composed of several layers. the one which is in contact with the ground is called "flesh split" = croûte de cuir" i've already heard and read it in the context of luggage and suitcase en français. there can be several layers (the others have no specific names, they are splits. i'm really not sure you must add a "s" to split
up to you,i did my best
hope it helps
