French term or phrase:joue la carte des transparents (magazine)
This is about a magazine that is changing its look: "La maquette etait tres noire: elle joue maintenant la carte des transparents, recuperant les codes de la television." I'm not sure how to translate "transparents" in this context. Thanks for any suggestions. Karen
I like your suggestion of a "lighter look" which contrasts with the previous "maquette noire." I'm pretty sure they're speaking in a figurative sense. Thanks for the help. Karen 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Explanation: ... or some such phrase ("has now turned towards/opted for greater transparency"). I know your problem is with the word "transparents", but it's a little difficult to know whether to interpret this in a technichal or a figurative sense. I hope that "transparency" is sufficiently vague and plausible to prove satisfactory in both senses!
