An All Terrain Vehicule. As above, a four wheel drive "motorbike". You see (and hear) these d---d things all over the countryside here in Quebec and the "slang" expression is quad.

Explanation:
les "quad" are the roller skates with wheels on all four corners (as it were) as opposed to the "line" which are rollerblades (inline skates I think is the official non-trademark name)? Could this be it?

Explanation:
It is the term for four-wheels roller skates. It is also the name for "vehicules hors-route", VTT or "velo tout terrain" called "mountain bike" in English. Since the latter is so popular lately, I would tend to use that translation if you have nothing else to help you.

Quad bike


Explanation:
It's possible this is a quad bike, a four-wheeled motorbike. It's designed for off-road use, and they're popular on farms, in New Zealand at any rate. They're also pretty popular for off-road adventure in the States, I think.
