help! Is there a more specific term for this OTHER THAN "crop rotation"?

In this particular case, I need to distinguish between "rotation des cultures" (i.e. over time) and "assolement" (in terms of distribution of land/fields). Unfortunately, the text is a simple glossary so sentence/paragraph context can not help.

Thanks!

crop rotation and fallowing
Explanation:
Generally, this IS crop rotation. However, the alternating pattern implies that the land is to be left fallow for a certain period (confirmed in Robert). So I suggest the above combination.

So many sites on crop distribution that it is hard to select one. You could also say, as you yourself suggested "crop rotation over time and space"

hope it helps

fallow

Explanation:
Could "fallow" work? Also the expression "lie in fallow", not reserved exclusively in the agricultural domain either!

I did a search with both terms in French and found this :
