Can anyone help with the following:
1.(To do with golf) Prix S.D.V.M. What is S.D.V.M.?
2.(A trip to the town of Epinal)Visite de l'Imagerie et croisière sur le Canal de l'Est. How would you translate l’Imagerie in this context ?
3.170 ans de sapeurs pompiers à Vittel. Sapeurs pompiers?
4.Salon d'Honneur de l'Hôtel de Ville. Salon d'Honneur ?
5.Maison du tourisme – tourist home (american English)???
6.Découverte d'une distillerie artisanale- traditional or small scale distillery maybe ???

2. L'Imagerie was a unique institution in France. Keep the French name.
3. Fire brigade. The usual term is now "pompiers". "Sapeurs" refers to the earlier function, that pof undermining city walls, etc.
4. Reception hall.
5. Tourism Office (In some cities here in the USA it may be called:CVB, i.e., Convention and Visitors Bureau.)
6. " Artisanal" often means "cottage industry."
