place of also

English translation: it's correct

French term or phrase: place of also
Did I correctly place the adverb "also" in this translation ?

French: Le system autorise et contrôle également les numéros de série au niveau des sous-postes pour les produits composés

English: The system authorizes and also checks serial numbers at the level of the subitems for the composed products.

I thank you in advance,

Nathalie

English translation:it's correct
Explanation:
I think if you're going to put the 'also' in, that would be the place to put it! However, if it were me, I'd be tempted to leave it out altogether.

The system authorises and checks ...

I don't think the 'also' adds much and I think it sounds better without!

Just a thought - hope it helps

yes

Explanation:
the 'also' sounds fine to me, but 'at the level of...' is not quite English.

I assume that the French version was 'au niveau des...', in which case I would suggest saying 'serial numbers on/for the subitems...'.

The system also authorizes and checks ....

Explanation:
This way the emphasis is on performing these actions (authorizing, checking) on the level of subitems.

Note : The system also/both authorizes and

Explanation:
checks sub-item serial numbers (the serial numbers on sub-items) for the COMPOSITE products.

also/both sound more natural at the beginning as suggested by others. I would also go along with the suggestion that "également" is reducndant in the original and could simply not be translated at all.

No info on fuller context, but it might be useful to check the adjective "composé" in the field concerned as it more often than not translate as "composite".
