French term or phrase: vacation
Contexte: logiciel de gestion d'entrepôts.

Selon l'auteur de cette documentation, une vacation regroupe toutes les commandes, ordres de livraisons, ordres de préparations pour une tournée donnée.

Je ne sais pas du tout comment je peux rendre cette idée en anglais.

Quelqu'un pourrait-il m'aider ?

Merci d'avance,

Nathalie

English translation:session / session log
Explanation:
One of the meanings of 'vacation' suggested in my dictionary is a 'session', which is a word often used in computing lingo.

So all the orders and movements for any given day are recorded in a 'session'.

Might work, might not! :-)

I thank you for your suggestion, but I think I have to specify that this "session" deals with orders preparation and picking. So I would use "order preparation session" or something like that.

Best regards,

Nathalie

auction

Explanation:
I did not know of such a use of this term. But the website below suggests it may also mean "auction" (apart form its obvious meaning). That is not exactly what you need, but perhaps it helps...

agree  jgal: not bad! The only translation I could think of for vacation was 'slot', which didn't really fit, but this is much better

agree  BOB DE DENUS: I also found a reference in GDT see below

agree  Heathcliff: I believe you've got it! The only addition I might make is "working" ("working session") (standard technogeek term).

agree  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Don't laugh but "vacation radio" during yacht races is a rdioa chat session for media, usually). Sounds right!

Explanation:
I see Mary Richards has already come with the same answer.
Anyway here is a reference from GDT if it helps in making up your mind.
vacation n. f.

Déf. :
Séance de travail d'une durée de quelques heures

GDT
The only other meaning of "vacation" is a professional fee, or honorarium which does not seem to apply to this context.

holding file?

Explanation:
one meaning of vacation is "temporary work"; maybe the idea is to group related items until a later/final disposition?

shift

Explanation:
Elaborating on the idea of session, period of time, slot etc.
In my previous company, the French-speaking desk people worked "vacations" (like 7 am to 2 pm) and their English-speaking equivalents worked "shifts" (same thing).
