French term or phrase: huilerie chromatographe chromatogramme
il s'agit d'une analyse sur CPG (chromatographie en phase gazeuse)
physique-chimie

chrommatogramme est le papier (résultat de l'analyse)

chromatographe est l'appareil

svp merci beaucoup
BONNAILLIE Loic
English translation:oil plant
Explanation:
I gather that you are most concerned with the appropriate English rendering of "huilerie", since you seem to understand that the "chromatogram" is the result of the analysis and "chromatograph" is the apparatus.

Eurodicautom also suggests "oil mill" for "huilerie" but I prefer "oil plant"...and also note that "oil plant" is quite distinct from "oil refinery", which is involved in the next stage in the processing of the crude oil.

Question

Explanation:
Je suis absolument sûr que Richard connait la mattiere mieux que moi, mais pourquoi mes dictionnaires donnent les traductionnes suivantes:
huilerie > oil pressing factory
oil plant > plante oléagineuse
oil mill > sous-produit d'huilerie
?

agree  1964: Yes in olive oil factories there is a pressing process (With hot water) to get oil from olive

  -> Thanks!

agree  DR. RICHARD BAVRY: again, it could well be olive oil rather than crude oil..but "oil plant" would still apply
46 mins
-> Thanks! Plant can signify both!

Question

Explanation:
Something looks wrong with the original syntax which should be clarified.
One could assume that "huilerie" stands for the place where essential oils are extracted. Chromatography is extensively used by perfumes and flavour makers in order to control their production. Is that a valid hint?
