Apologies in advance for asking questions.

"En bateau à voile, quand on rencontre des îles ou des reliefs, on sait que cela se passe exactement comme cela. On se méfie du matelas avec du vent plus faible « au vent » du relief, on peut profiter de l’accélération du vent sur les côtés des îles et surtout on se méfie des sales dévents « sous le vent » des reliefs pour ne pas faire le kayakiste fatigué."

I wouldn't mind an opinion on 'matelas' (seabed?) either.
