Tech/Engineering
French term or phrase: techniques
Is there a rule to assist in deciding when "technique" should be translated as "process"? What is the difference between "technique" and "process"?

Mon texte contient une petite page décrivant comment EDF accompagne des industries agro-alimentaires en développant des tehcnologies douces, dont :
-les techniques des champs pulsés
-les techniques membranaires

"techniques" or "processes"?

English translation:Please see below:
Explanation:
A technique is a way of doing something involving special knowledge or steps.

A process is a procedure, or a broader way of accomplishing something, which may or may not invoke a technique.

For example the process of replacing a car tire, involves loosening the wheel lug nuts, lifting the car, removing the nuts and the wheel, placing the wheel on a machine and using a technique to remove the tire from the rim, and to re-install the new tire without damaging the rim. (If you attempt to do this without knowing the technique you may damage the rim.) Then installing the wheel back on the car, tightening the nuts, and finally lowering the car and removing the jack.

Any process may involve technique.
