Connecteur type RS 232 (25 points) - 3 points seulement sont utilisés
What word would you use for point - I can't seem to find the word.

Explanation:
but in the one you mention, only 3 of the 25 pins are used. (Sounds like a connector for a data-only cable, with just the transmit, receive, and ground pins used -- numbers 2, 3, and 7, if memory serves.) Very popular with certain early Unix-based minicomputers systems, and with the Apple II PC.

Just to confuse matters, this particular type of RS-232 connector is also known as a "3-wire" connector. However, "pin" is the standard term.
