French term or phrase: 2ème grande
démarrer en deuxième grande (poids lourds)
clair
English translation:Start in second gear
Explanation:
Could it, by any chance, mean the above? Once again, I feel that this text is itself a bad translation of another text. Maybe the original word was "gear" (in whatever language) and was translated as "grande"?

I left it simply as in second gear. Even the head translator on the project wasn't certain. Thanks for your help anyway
Best wishes

Explanation:
Clair, the only thing I found was in the Grand dictionnaire terminologique, in a phrase where grande is translated by number.
"grande AGMA d'une huile pour engrenages avec effet extreme-pression modere n. m."
"AGMA mild-type extreme pressure lubricant number"
Abrev.
"AGMA mild-type EP lubricant number"

big second XXX

Explanation:
The question beggin here for me is : "en deuxième grande WHAT"?

Or could it be "en deuxième grade", a level of qualification for heavy goods drivers who can start at the second level or grade if they already have previous experience or a licence for a different category of vehicle for example.
