French term or phrase: plates-formes prises en charge
The text is "plates-formes prises en charge : Windows 95", so I assume it is some sort of systems requirement, but I'm not really a computer translator. Grateful for any help. I also have a "cle d'extraction", which seems to be some sort of serial number, because it is made up of 10 numbers. How should I translate this?

used platforms

Explanation:
or 'used (hardware) platforms'

Déf. 'plate-forme': Structure (matérielle) d'un système informatique, principalement basé sur le type de système d'exploitation utilisé.
Note:
Par exemple, un ordinateur IBM fonctionnant avec le système d'exploitation DOS constitue une plate-forme. Ce même ordinateur IBM, fonctionnant avec un système d'exploitation UNIX constitue une autre plate-forme.
Les termes 'plate-forme' et 'environnement' sont souvent utilisés indifférement.

clé d'extraction = extraction key, a key to use to extract data from (e.g. a CD) from the software subsets for which the user is licensed. It's a certificate and usually compiled of x-amount of alpha/numeric characters (in your case 10 numbers)

Action taken on platform

Explanation:
From LGDT:

Français:

You might be interested in consulting the Grand dictionnaire terminologique yourself. It is now available for consultation on line at **no cost** (I paid $170 for mine, and thought I was getting a bargain!).

As for clé d'extraction, I can find **nothing** when doing a search with Google and Altra Vista! Here is what Termium (unfortunately still not available for free...) has for extraction:

(1) English:Data Processing
extraction s CORRECT
selection s CORRECT
DEF - Selection of various data components from a storage unit, as records from a file, fields from a record, or bits from a word, in order to form a new data unit that can be separately analyzed or processed. s

(2) English:Computer Memories
readout s CORRECT,NOUN
read-out s NOUN
CONT - Readout refers to instrument panels or video displays. It's human interface with the machine conveying information, as opposed to printout, which is the output of the machine that you can carry away in your hand. s
OBS - In journalese, it is a public recitation of information from which notes may be taken or, if permission is given, pictures may be transmitted. s

(3) From LGDT:

Domaine(s)
informatique
restitution des données
Anglais:
output (abcd)
Synonyme(s):
output process (a)
Abréviation(s):
o/p (b)
O/P (b)
Français:
sortie n f (abcd)
Processus qui permet à un système d'exploitation ou à un programme d'application de transférer des données vers un périphérique de sortie, soit par exemple l'écran ou l'imprimante; les données peuvent également être stockées sur disque ou dans un fichier ou encore envoyées vers un autre ordinateur par un réseau. (e)
Synonyme(s):
extraction n f (d)
[Office de la langue française, 1998]

I think I'd use "read-out key" or "data retrieval key"; maybe "output key" would work, too. Check the rest of your context and see what works.

supported platform

Explanation:
"Prise en charge" is a variation on "support" in hardware/software lingo. The sentence simply means that Windows 95 is the supported platform.
