French term or phrase:brigade automobile
automobile bridge or carmoured car brigade?
Explanation: would be the more appropriate term for the 1914-1918 era. By World War II, the term "mechanized brigade" had become more common, as a general term describing a brigade with a variety of self-propelled vehicles. "Motorized infantry brigade" would be an alternative for the WWI usage, if context supports it. No armored cars, though; ground-pounder troops (i.e., the infantry) were never that fortunate!
