school or "the" school depending on the context


Explanation:
Just to clarify what has been said by others, the word can be used both with or without the word "the".
"Je vais à l'école" would be translated with "I go to school".
But "Je vais à l'école des Beaux Arts" would be "I attend the Fine Arts school". Or "Ceci est l'école où vont mes enfants" "This is the school my children attend".
Sorry to contradict, but there are no fast rules...
