French term or phrase: exploitation de données
Informatique. (Pas de contexte).
Merci.

English translation:data utilization
Explanation:
This is what I suggest in the absence of context. It can mean the retrieval of information from data, e. g. for statistical purposes. Quite different from data processing ("traitement de l'information")

Data exploitation

Explanation:
If you need a nice concice term, then people do use "data exploitation". Depending on context, it may not be the most natural solution -- if all it means is "the way in which the data is used/processed/ visualised/placed in documents", then it might be better to just say so.

((seconding Neil's suggestion))

Explanation:
The phrase is becoming increasingly common, and the abbreviation "DE" is starting to appear in more and more places. A web search (using Google) just turned up more than 700 instances of "data exploitation," so you're probably fine with that term.
