French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering
French term or phrase:lourd
Brain has definitely gone to bed - just posted this to the Farsi group by mistake...
lourd in the context of taking up a lot of bandwidth (network traffic) when downloading... on the tip of my tongue - anyone?
c’est un peu lourd, mais, ce n’est pas pire que de retélécharger le tout de façon différée par smtp
folks, not a question of artistic license... this is a technical text. We're talking about creating lots of network traffic by downloading something - ie. a 50 Mb file through a 24k modem is a bit 'lourd'...

Difficult, tiresome, wearisome
Here are a few suggestions. I like arduous best!

Explanation: but no worse than downloading it all again [de façon differée] by smtp.
All respects, but this doesn't seem like technical language, just plain convesational talk from a techie. C'est un peu lourd, in this context, means it's a kind of a pain, it's a bit of a pain. (i.e. it's cumbersome, etc, but I think simplicity is best here; to stay in the same register as "lourd" which in this case is just plain conversational French.
