French term or phrase: en bout de panne
The subject area is photodiodes. The sentence reads, "Verifier qu'il soit reglé à une température de 260C en bout de panne."
I can't find any on-line help with the phrase "en bout de panne." Any suggestions would be appreciated!

English translation:at the end of the stick/bar/rod
Explanation:
With photodiodes, for which there a zillions of websites, I could not find anything to make sense of this in context. All I do know is that "panne" in construction terminology is a rafter, a binding rafter or an interlocking parlin used in the construction of a roof to describe the horizontal beam which is set onto the main rafter and which bears the angle and other common rafters.

By extension, I can only put forward the idea that this is a rod, bar or stick element which may well amke sense to you when put in context.

All the best,

Nikki

Thanks for the help. I chose "at the end of the rod" as it seemed to make sense in the context.

5 hrs
at the tip of the pane?

Explanation:
One of the translations of the word "panne" is "pane". Could this device have some kind of pane whose tip has to reach a certain temperature in order to be operative? Just a shot in the dark. It would help if you specified what the word "il" (in "qu'il soit réglé à une température...") means.
