French term or phrase: Une ceinture à revers
Hello

Probably also described as

item of clothing +***ceinturé à revers***

Looked at loads of pictures and think it might be some sort of elastic waistband, probably with a pull string in the back

Not always visible in the picture but very visible and with magnifying glass on the page

http://www.esprit.fr/pantalon-ceinturé-à-revers-053CC1B037

is this what it is and what might be the English term please?

Thanks

foldover waistband/waist
Explanation:
As noted in the discussion entries, the term is being used to describe a bikini bottom that doesn't contain a "belt" in the usual sense of that word.

It appears to be referrring to what is usually called a "foldover" waist or waistband, as in the images below.

  -> thank you, Lori!

agree  Philippa: and looking at all those bikini pics reminds us how we won't be wearing one for many months now!!

  -> yes, sadly :-)

  -> thanks, Catcressie!

disagree  Janice Giffin: The photo in the website of the original question the 'Pantalon ceinturé à revers' is a long pair of casual cargo type trousers with a belt that looks like it is turned inside out. I see no reference to a bikini. Have I missed something?

  -> Yes. It's in the D box. The "pantalon ceinturé à revers" in asker's link refers to "belted pants that can be rolled up." But asker's text actually concerns a bikini bottom w/o a belt, and the term needed is "ceinture à revers," not "ceinturé à revers."

agree  Lorraine Dubuc: Janice if you look at my links it is clearly fold over waistband.

  -> thank you, Lorraine :-)
