Marketing - Tourism & Travel
French term or phrase: signalétique
Les mois qui viennent doivent nous permettent de faire connaître et de conforter nos actions économiques, touristiques et éducatives par une signalétique adaptée.

Having a bit of trouble with the last section of this. It is from the intro blurb of a community web site talking about how forging inter communal links strengthens their collective hands, united we stand type of speech. Its fairly low key though so I want to try to avoid over egging the pudding.
Thanks in advance.

neutral  Sara Freitas: don't think so, or at least I've never seen the term used this way

agree  Mpoma: actually I think you're on to something... you can have "signalétique" for an exhibition, which does *not* refer to signage inside the building, but rather translates as "promotional public visual elements"

signage

Explanation:
"...using appropriate signage"

Or maybe you could even get away with 'visual identity', which seems to be the general idea here?

"a coherent signage policy"

I'm assuming this is just a pretentious way of saying "now we've given a coat of paint to the Muncipal Museum and repaired the church roof, we'd better put up some signs to tell people how to get there" --- France is so bad about offering information (it's a bit like context on KudoZ...!)

agree  xxxBourth: While "signage" is the primary meaning, I agree that "visual identity" might be meant.

agree  xxxdf49f: signage, or sign posting or publicity (but not visual identity: not really the meaning of the French phrase, though it's related to it in a way)// re your note: oui bien sûr, cela va sans dire! :)

-> Merci, D/F ! I agree that 'v.i.' is not really what it means, but I think maybe the IDEA of it could usefully be worked in there --- you know, a degree of uniformity in the signs to emphasize the joint efforts!

agree  RHELLER: this is the dedicated term - I love signs!

-> Thanks Rita! I got worried when the uni. I worked for bought a 'spandex' signage system --- whatever next! Didn't know it was a UK brand name...

signalling

Explanation:
'appropriate signalling' sounds like typical officialese to me, if it's more than road signage we're talking about here
