French to English translations [Non-PRO] Marketing - Tourism & Travel / Travel Brochure
French term or phrase:en vo
Context: In a travel brochure a trip that is offered is entitled "New York En Vo".
I really appreciate the help. This was more a question relating to the art of translation, as opposed to the exact meaning. You immediately picked up on this. Thank you! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
I believe "in English" is correct as the only text afterwards is "An English language course will be offered." I had understood that en VO means "in the original version". I just had some question about whether to translate this literally. I agree that it is a terrible way to describe a travel package, but I still have to translate it in a sensible manner.
it should not be translated too literally, as has already been suggested. While the "VO" of NY might be said to be English, the "VO" of a tour with a taxi driver could equally well be Russian or Wolof. Details following the title would help give a better idea for translation.
Picking up on a British idiom, how about "New York as she is spoke" (no N)?
Although Nicky Agate is correct, vo means 'version originale', I am wondering if this has a slightly different meaning here. What does the tour include? Does it have a cinematic theme?

Explanation: "en vo" means "en version originale" -- it is most often used for non subtitled films, but here it means "English-language tours"

Explanation: I do not believe that here, "in English", even if sticking to the verbal meaning, does not convey the necessary nuance.
New York in English is everyday New York: it carries no special hint, when on the contrary, "version original" is aimed at something like a special offering, some specific touring session no one has access to, but...
