French term or phrase: aplexique

Submarines. Describing the ideal shape for a submarine, I have the above term in the following sentence.

"La forme idéale (dite aplexique) n'est de ce fait pas exactement une sphère mais un ovoïde".

Is this a synonym for "ideal shape" or is it referring to a particular shape itself? In either case, only found one hit for it on the web, in a text very similar to the one I'm working on.

The target reader is essentially European, non-specialist.
