French term or phrase: déprécier cet actif

Je sais, j'abuse, mais ... dieser Satz findet sich innerhalb einer ansonsten wesentlich allgemeiner gehaltenen betriebsinternen Zeitschrift, im Abschnitt Marktanalyse. Es geht um einen Konkurrenten meines Kunden.

[en milieu d'année] [la société] annonçait son intention de vendre l'activité xxx du groupe, passant une perte de XX millions de $ pour déprécier cet actif.

Kann ich das mit

[La société] gab ihre Absicht bekannt, den Geschäftsbereich xxx der Gruppe zu veräußern und einen Verlust von XX Millionen $ abzuschreiben.

übersetzen oder ist das zu ungenau ? Gibt es da eine bessere Formulierung ?

Das ist so gar nicht mein Bereich, deshalb frage ich lieber nach.
