Tech/Engineering
French term or phrase: complexe .... effets barrière ... scellabilité (Paper Industry)
Enduction: opération consistant à déposer à la surface d'un matériau ou d'un complexe une cire microcristalline, une paraffine ou une cire hot-melt, en phase liquide, afin d'augmenter les effets barrière aux graisses et à la vapeur d'eau ou de conférer au matériau des propriétés de scellabilité.

complexe - can it be a "Zwischenprodukt"?

les effets barrière - I found "Sperrwirkung" in Ernst Wörterbuch der Industriellen Technik. Anyone a better solution?

scellabilité - did not find the word in any of my dictionaries. I only found "SCELLER" which means "versiegeln, verschließen, besiegeln, siegeln ....". Does anyone have any idea, what it can be related to the paper industry, specially to paper coating???

tnx

German translation:Kombination von Stoffen, Sperrwirkung, Siegelfähigkeit
Explanation:
I packed my French dictionaries already
except for a small Langenscheidt, which
does not much good, but I found a German
site for paper production which is translated into French/English etc.
scellabilité=Siegelfähigkeit
http://www.thuerlings.de/80A_fr.html
then go to:http://www.thuerlings.de/
and press: Model 80A--there you got it.

The same happens, when you go to (here is your sentence):http://www.copacel.fr/francais.htm
Then you take the English page:http://www.copacel.fr/anglais.htm
--Your sentence translated into English:
Smearing : process consisting of applying a micro-crystalline wax, paraffin or a hot-melt wax (in liquid
phase) to the surface of a material or a complex in order to increase the barrier effect to grease(?something's missing in this translation?)water or to seal the packaging.
Now, into German (I still left those dictionaries out of the moving boxes):
barrier effect=Sperrwirkung, Schliesswirkung (oder: um den Barriereneffekt zu vergroessern)
complex=I don't think it can be
Zwischenprodukt, I also would not translate it as "Komplex" (I don't like it in this English translation either)--it is a product/material consisting of more than one part=einer Zusammensetzung, but I think, that you can say: . . . auf die Oberflaeche eines
Stoffes oder Kombination von Stoffen
--
I hope this helps,
Lis

Looks like the translation I have is a transcript of the web page itself. My glossaire to translate is pretty much the same (as on the Copacel page) and I have to translate the whole glossary in English as well. So it will be very helpful for the next step.

I thank you so much for your help. Paper Industry is tough with expressions :)
