γκόμπλινς, καλλικάντζαροι, τελώνια Explanation: goblin or hobgoblin, in French folklore, small household spirit, similar to the Celtic brownie. Goblins perform household tasks but also can make mischief, such as pulling the covers off sleepers. They like wine and pretty children. In Breton folklore, the Korrigans are dwarf-like spirits. Korr means Little person and ig is a diminutive and the suffix an is an hypocoristic. A Kallikantzaros (Καλλικάντζαρος) pl. Kallikantzaroi is a malevolent goblin in Greek folk tradition. They dwell underground but come to the surface from the winter solstice for a fortnight (during which time the sun ceases its seasonal movement) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 34 mins (2005-04-09 13:07:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- GOBLIN και KOBOLD Πηγές από τον Βάρδο GOBLIN Any form of mischievous or evil spirit. The name entered folklore in the 14th century; the name of the Ghibellines who, a century earlier, had supported the Holy Roman Emperor against the Papacy may have encouraged the usage by association, but the word comes from the Greek kobalos, through which root the Germans also dericed the word \"kobold\".
