no es exactamente una parte de la cola, hace parte de la construccion del avion, el carenaje es basicmente la cubierta que proporciona la aerodinamica.

Explanation:
María, también se le dice carenado y no es sólo parte de la cola, sino que puede ser carenado de motor, carenado ventral (la "panza" del avión), etc.
Te paso un par de links y te recomiendo el primero ya que tiene fotografías que te van a aclarar el concepto.
