Ag Imirt Cártaí
Bhíodh a lán imirt cártaí ar siúl ins na tithe i rith
an Gheimhridh.
D'imríodh óg agus sean na cártaí. Aon déag ar fichead
(31) nó aon is
dachad, na cluichí is mó d'imrítí. Pingin an cluiche a
chuirtí síos agus
bhíodh seisear de ghnáth ag imirt. Ag déanamh ar an
Nollaig, d'imirítí i
gcóir turcaí nó géanna. Chloisfeá caint bagarthach go
maith ó bhord na
gcártaí
"Cheilis a dheabhail cheilis !
''Mhuise ! fáinne óir ort.''
''Buail, tabhair agus tairg ''.
''Mhuise nár leagadh Dia thú''
''Déanfaidh sé ceathrach maith fós!''.
