Thanks to everyone for their input on this and sorry not to have been more forthcoming. I looked up the Pflanzenschutzgesetz and found the same as you did Paul, but I think that it must be because the file dates from before the last amendment (there seem to be enough references to § 11 Abs.2 Satz 1 Nr.2 Pflanzenschutzgesetz to suggest that it is alright. But I did notice when researching that that there seem to be a few references to "auf der
Grundlage der Genehmigungen nach § 11 Abs. 2 Satz 1 Nr. 2 Pflanzenschutzgesetz (PflSchG) des Bundesamtes für Verbraucherschutz" (http://www.obstbau.rlp.de/Internet/global/themen.nsf/a92d4c0...$FILE/AllgVerfg%20Feuerbrand%202011.pdf) and "eine Genehmigung nach § 11 Abs. 2 Satz 1 Nr. 2 Pflanzenschutzgesetz (PflSchG) [presumably des BVL](http://www.dlr.rlp.de/internet/global/themen.nsf/ALL/A0679DE... and that has slightly reinforced my suspicions that there is something funny with the ST

Hi Charlie, I agree that there is something strange here. First, if you look up the Pflanzenschutzgesetz, you see that although there is a Section 11(2), its first sentence does not have numbered items. This suggests that the reference might be incorrect.

Second, the genitive "des Bundesamtes" suggests to me at least that something must have been issued or adopted by that Bundesamt. They clearly did not adopt the Pflanzenschutzgesetz. Hence, this increases the suspicion that an incorrect reference was included here.

So the sentence might start 'according to' or 'since' [whatever you are calling the Allgemeinv.], blah blah...
