German term

"zweistielig eingeschnitten"

German to English Tech/Engineering Architecture log house construction
The full sentence is: "Die Blockwandbalken wurden kerngetrennt, das heißt zweistielig eingeschnitten, gelagert und vor der Verarbeitung ein dreiviertel Jahr an der Luft getrocknet."
I've seen a translation of "einstielig" as single-stemmed - can't figure out the "zweistielig."
Would appreciate any help.

Thanks a lot, Kim - that clarifies it. Much appreciated.

Kerngetrennt is wood split down the middle, longitudinally, so it's the same thing as halved.

But does "kerngetrennt" mean box heart? I saw one translation for that as 'split heart center,' but then could only find that formulation on the internet on English-language websites of German lumber companies.
