My dear Parrot has an excellent reference - but it's a French article. Iit is evident that this text in German uses German wording, and the French article Parrot refers to uses the French word - but in Beyrut they speak neither French nor German. I suggest therefore to use the English equivalent, the original is probably Arab...

  -> I am not sure about that - but, Israel WAS an English protectorate - and I believe the official language is Yiddish...
