Go down deep/dig into it

I assume that Tiefennavigation (navigation in deep water) is a heading and the sentence Martin gave is the only context available. The sentence says that aggregated data can be broken down into their elements. The heading, although somewhat fanciful and imprecise, appears to try, with poetic license, to convey that thought: dig into it, go down deep.
