Discussion

Titus Haennni Nov 17, 2009:
I think that could work. There are a few google hits.
Melanie Wittwer (asker) Nov 17, 2009:
Urban home economics?
Titus Haennni Nov 17, 2009:
Urban ... quite simply. I would assume a distinction is made between urban and rural.
Melanie Wittwer (asker) Nov 17, 2009:
How would you incorporate 'städtisch' in home economics?

Selected

home economics / urban setting

You could refer to it as a degree in Home Economics for Urban settings or application
(the distinction here is likely not inclusive farm work, or the like)
Good luck on your translation

I think that is the closest analogy to anything in America at least according to wht I found here:

Peer comment(s):

agree Susan Welsh : I thought this was bizarre, until I looked on Linguee and found it used rather commonly. (I never heard of such a thing; to me home ec was learned in junior high school--but that was 50 years ago).

urban household management

Just an idea - this term (well, without "urban") came up in a novel about the 1940's in London I'm reading. May be a bit dated, of course.
