Speaking from personal experience, I'd use a word that doesn't have different associations in several parts of the world.

Some time ago, I had to have a high school diploma translated, so I know how hard it can be to find the right words. I believe a lot depends on the customer's input (e.g., you need to have the school's description for many classes in the US because their titles don't tell the whole story).

It only uses Kindergarten as part of the proper name of the school. Elsewhere, they call it woodland nursery. While you don't have much space, maybe you could write the name of the preschool in German and add a word or two in parentheses.

Forest School isn't that wrong either. Have a look at the chart and first para. here:

This has little to do with the German Waldschule on Wiki. It even says Denmark in there. Not sure why some treat Wiki as gospel.

It's the same with your qualifizierender Hauptschulabschluss question. You could simply call this a secondary school diploma:

The issue is that the German Hauptschule is dying out and qualifizierend odesn't add much (and it's not qualified, IMO), considering you'll see the grades anyways.

The big question is what this person wants to do now. He or she can't study, neither in Germany, nor the US or Canada.

My reason for asking is that this CV will go to Finnland, Canada, India, Ghana, and other African countries. I believe, a cv should be short but convey all relevant information. Wording is very important. It shows, that there is more experience here than just normal preschool work. So not really space to add an explanation, as I would normally do.

What's important is your reason for asking this Q in the first place. And I'm inclined to agree with Adrian and Julia here.

Also, a US kindergarten is not the same as a German Kindergarten, as they rightly point out here:

Ramey, I did look it up in several dics, discussed it with specialists for preschool education and from the childcare administration. They all had very different ideas and translations. I do not ask a question out of laziness
