German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) Separation technology

We have had a technical document translated (and proofread) from German into English, but there are still several terms causing some trouble and we are wondering if any here can help to confirm the translation of any these terms.

The text is to do with the specification of a system for separating mammalian cells from a fermentation broth.

The first term is "Ausschießen" and it appears in the following contexts:

1. Als Steuerwasser ist gereingtes Wasser vorgesehen, da eine Produktberührung beim Ausschießen der Zellen ausgeschlossen werden kann.

2. In a list of functions:
Wasserfahrt für Testzwecke z.B. Ausschießverhalten
