Explanation:
This is closer to a guess, but it sounds to me like your welding maching may have an ATC (automatic tool changer) so that it can select from different welding tools (or end effectors) to do the job, according to the programming.

This first link states:

The machine tool rack feeds the machine with the correct tool according to the CNC program.

The second link shows some of the tools used in robotic manipulation.

Dieser wird auch mit "workpiece pallet" übersetzt (R.Gregg Buce et. al., New Jersey, 1998: Modern Materials and Manufacturing processes, S. 431 und 431).
Für "welding pallet" habe ich leider keine brauchbaren Belege gefunden.
