How does a Wirtschaftskanton differ from a regular canton? 'Economic canton' or 'financial canton' just doesn't make any sense to me.

Context:

'Ein sehr gutes Wachstum konnten auch Zürich (+7.99%), Genf (+10.92) und Bern (+13.03%) verzeichnen. Aufgrund der konstanten Wirtschaftsleistung dieser und weiterer Wirtschaftskantone konnte der November 2016 auch ein sehr starkes Gesamtergebnis mit einem guten Wachstum verzeichnen.'

agree  philgoddard: I think the idea may be that there's lots of industry compared to those which are more agricultural, but this works.

agree  Eleanore Strauss: vibrant works. But it's also about total output, i.e. contribution. Re Philgoddard comment: Pls see my entry above. Thought to mention Zug, highest percentage of international companies, lowest tax rate.
