"maternity leave" may not be quite the best answer Explanation: "maternity leave" may not be quite the best answer because that really is "Mutterschutz", "Erziehungsurlaub" starts after that and either the father or mother can take it. It would sound a little strange for the father to say he was on maternity leave. Since we don't have the concept yet, we don't have a good simple word for it. I would explain it. Exact info with length of time, rules, etc under "Erziehungsurlaub" at AltaVista, but I couldn't find a name. |
