German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Law (general) / law on hiring employees
German term or phrase: abgestellt
Hi, I don't really understand what abgestellt means here. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
Dass eine Anknüpfung an die Branche des den Arbeitnehmer beschäftigenden Entleihers zweckmäßig ist, zeigt sich zudem daran, dass auch anderen Bereichen in derartigen Konstellationen nicht auf den Verleiher, sondern auf Entleiher abgestellt wird.

use as guideline

Explanation:
... that for such constellation also in other areas the client is used as a guideline rather than the provider....

Guessing without further context, but wasn't there some commotion with tariff agreements for service companies.... I recollect something about a major online retailer using logistics tariffs which are cheaper than retail tariffs and I think that also involved service companies who provided the staff...

geared towards

Explanation:
Except for the term in question, the following sentence is just a working translation. It may provide some ideas how the German sentence could be broken down but may not solve all terminology issues..

"That it makes sense for this to be tied to the industry of the borrower using the employee becomes more clear when we also look at other sectors where similar arrangements are not geared towards the loaner but towards the borrower."

By the way, the German is missing the word "in": "dass auch IN anderen Bereichen.."

You could also use

"focus on":

"That it makes sense for this to be tied to the industry of the client company using the employee becomes more clear when we also look at other sectors where similar scenarios focus on the lessee rather than the leasing company.”

neutral  Birgit Gläser: should be lender:borrower... only know loaner as colloquial for rental car... not to mention I would not use lender for temping staff... ;-D

-> Oh sure but I didn’t worry about that. I only translated the whole sentence to help people break down the German sentence and see how my solution fits into that basic structure and the context, nothing more.

agree  Camilla Seifert: Agree with Michael. Would suggest hirer (DIETL) - Entleiher Hirer - borrowing employees.

agree  Björn Vrooman: +1 for the Duden link - sometimes I wonder how many people actually use it. I wouldn't get too hung up on dict.cc; better than LEO, but none of the suggestions there can be used in this context.
